Counsel, California (Remote)

Location: Remote within the United States; position associated with hirify.global Staff Counsel offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, and San Francisco.

Annual salary: $127,100–$210,125

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in California courts and handle assigned first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research applicable law and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions to the Claims Department regarding liability, damages, and claim value.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations under oath, trials, and dispositive hearings.
• Travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

Requirements

• 7+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense, defense, and/or personal injury.
• Juris Doctor degree.
• Admission to the California Bar and an active license in good standing to practice law in California are required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; hirify.global will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization.
• Ability to meet and maintain applicable licensing and Continuing Legal Education requirements.
• Strong written communication, organization, prioritization, multitasking, conflict-resolution, and ability to learn complex technical and procedural information.

Nice to have

• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
• Professional communication skills in person, by telephone, and in written correspondence or email.
