Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote

Salary: USD $133,000–$189,000 per year

What you will do

• Independently represent insureds before assigned courts and present witnesses and evidence in litigated workers compensation claims.
• Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct legal research, and develop and present defense strategies.
• Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
• Prepare for and handle trials, appeals, depositions, court appearances, claims meetings, and client meetings.
• Provide timely legal advice and case updates to clients and claims professionals.
• Support claims training, continuing legal education, and the prompt disposition of assigned cases.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Member in good standing of the Illinois Bar; multi-state bar admission is preferred.
• 7+ years of Connecticut Workers Compensation experience required; 15+ years of jurisdictional litigation experience preferred for the Senior Trial Attorney level, or 7 years for the Trial Attorney level.
• Strong legal research, writing, oral communication, analytical, judgment, and litigation skills.
• Experience with legal case management software, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Edge or Chrome.
• Valid state-issued driver's license in good standing.
