Litigation Counsel

Location: U.S. (Remote)

Salary: $190,000–$220,000 annual base salary, plus discretionary annual bonus and/or equity compensation.

What you will do

• Manage litigation workstreams involving independent contractor classification, unemployment insurance claims, and disputes with marketplace users.
• Handle professional negligence, data privacy, and other litigation matters.
• Partner with internal and outside counsel on high-stakes litigation, including drafting pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Develop and execute eDiscovery strategies covering custodial collection, document review, and production.
• Manage the company’s third-party subpoena response strategy and provide legal guidance to product, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
• Support additional legal workstreams and contribute to legal strategy decisions.

Requirements

• JD and at least 5 years of legal experience.
• Experience independently managing litigation and investigation matters, including high-stakes matters with outside counsel.
• Strong understanding of internal databases and ability to collect and analyze complex data.
• Experience with unemployment response, third-party subpoena response, and litigation docket management.
• Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to work autonomously under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, investigate unfamiliar legal issues, and operate effectively on a lean legal team.

Nice to have

• Experience handling arbitrations and class actions.
• Experience with large-scale eDiscovery data collection, review, and production.
• Clerkship or government experience.
• Experience working cross-culturally with diverse, global teams.
