TL;DR
CAD Designer, Senior (SolidWorks): Developing mechanical designs and technical engineering documentation for information systems supporting naval combat operations with an accent on SolidWorks, system and component design, and ASME Y14 standards. Focus on creating validated assembly drawings and work instructions, supporting shipboard installation and repair, and coordinating design products with engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, and government stakeholders.

Location: Dahlgren, Virginia, United States; travel up to 25%

Salary: $110,000–$122,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop mechanical designs and system- and component-level engineering documentation for naval information systems.
  • Create and validate work instructions and assembly drawings according to ASME Y14 Series Standards.
  • Use SolidWorks, computer-aided design tools, and other system and component design software.
  • Maintain information systems, SolidWorks, and peripheral test equipment in laboratory environments.
  • Support shipboard installation, maintenance, and repair of information systems.
  • Coordinate design products with engineering, manufacturing, installation, laboratory, and government stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Eight years of experience in analysis and mechanical design of hardware and firmware.
  • Experience creating system-level and component-level technical engineering documentation.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, CAD tools, system design software, and laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience interpreting military and industry specifications for information system development.
  • Experience supporting shipboard installation, maintenance, and repair of information systems for naval combat operations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the DoD/Navy clearance required by the final DD254/JPAS.

Nice to have

  • Experience with naval combat operations, shipboard installations, or laboratory test environments.
  • Experience developing design documentation for manufacturers and installation teams.
  • Experience applying SolidWorks and ASME Y14 standards in Navy or DoD programs.
