TL;DR
Design Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and sustaining mechanical ordnance components and systems for mission-critical defense products with an accent on engineering analysis, production support, and configuration management. Focus on applying GD&T and 3D CAD, leading root-cause investigations, and driving corrective actions across design, manufacturing, quality, and testing.

Location: Chandler, Arizona, United States. U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. person status is required due to export control regulations.

Salary: $66,900–$124,300 per year

What you will do

  • Sustain, develop, and improve mechanical designs for ordnance components and systems from concept through production and sustainment.
  • Perform engineering analysis and create technical documentation, drawings, and bills of material.
  • Support prototype, qualification, production, and sustainment engineering activities.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to Manufacturing and Quality in a hands-on environment.
  • Lead root-cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams and support proposals and technical evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Aerospace Engineering and other engineering disciplines may be considered.
  • Typically 3+ years of relevant mechanical and/or ordnance design experience; candidates with strong technical aptitude and less experience may also be considered.
  • Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
  • Must meet U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements for ongoing employment.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace or defense industry experience.
  • Manufacturing support, machine shop, or fabrication experience.
  • DOE, DFMA, FMEA, failure analysis, or engineering simulation experience.
  • ANSYS or SolidWorks CAE simulation experience.
  • Configuration management systems experience, preferably Oracle Agile PLM.
