Transportation Construction Inspector II

Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with assignments throughout Pennsylvania; field-based construction-site work.

Salary: USD $24.97–$32.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Inspect multiple facets of transportation construction work on active construction sites.
• Take field measurements and perform construction-related calculations.
• Prepare inspection reports and project documentation.
• Verify that approved materials and construction processes are being used.
• Confirm that construction complies with plans, specifications, and special provisions.
• Work on projects involving highways, bridges, culverts, railroad grade separations, viaducts, and major water crossings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.
• Previous transportation construction inspector experience or related experience.
• Experience in construction-related work; PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike, highway, or bridge project experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and perform moderately strenuous physical tasks, including walking on rough terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• A bachelor's degree in civil engineering is desirable.
