Senior Staff Software Engineer – Test Automation Infrastructure (ZIA Core)

Location: Hybrid — 3 days per week in the San Jose, California, USA office

Salary: $157,500–$225,000 USD base salary per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, development, and maintenance of scalable system test automation infrastructure for ZIA Core Datapath.
• Build repeatable automation suites for L4–L7 technologies, including cloud firewalls, IPsec/GRE tunneling, load balancers, IPS/IDS, and routing and switching.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cloud-based software design, development, and maintenance.
• Drive testing at scale through coding, debugging, troubleshooting, and continuous regression-cycle optimization.
• Diagnose complex network, HTTP/SSL, and firewall issues in customer environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and take ownership of features and quality initiatives.

Requirements

• 12+ years of overall engineering experience.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience building test automation frameworks.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP(S), TLS, PKI, DNS, DHCP, VPN, HA, routing, switching, and IPsec/GRE tunneling.
• Hands-on experience with L3, L4, and L7 filtering policies, load balancers, IPS/IDS, and routers.
• Experience with manual and automated functional, integration, performance, and scale testing for cloud security or SaaS products.
• Foundational AI/ML knowledge and experience using, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted coding, static or dynamic analysis, and intelligent automation tools.
• Experience with traffic generators, performance and load-testing tools, and fuzzing techniques.
• Experience leading large-scale test automation or quality initiatives for distributed cloud systems.
