Software Engineer (C++/Cloud Storage)

Location: Hybrid role based in Waltham, Massachusetts; Morrisville, North Carolina; or San Jose, California, United States. Waltham is preferred, with possible consideration for RTP, North Carolina, and San Jose.

Salary: USD 196,350–292,600 per year, depending on location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test features for complex, interdependent distributed storage systems.
• Build maintainable cloud-native storage components that meet scalability, reliability, and performance goals.
• Drive feature development independently from design through completion.
• Collaborate with cloud hyperscalers, SREs, Product Management, partner teams, and cross-functional engineering groups.
• Participate in design reviews, architectural discussions, technical investigations, and solution planning.
• Mentor junior engineers in technical execution and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering or development experience.
• Strong experience in software design, development, and system-level architecture.
• Proficiency in C++ or C; secondary experience with Go or Python.
• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies and distributed storage systems at scale.
• Practical experience with GCP, Azure, OCI, or AWS.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, multithreading, distributed systems, and modern programming practices.

Nice to have

• Team lead experience and the ability to lead features or small teams independently.
• Experience in networking and storage, especially cloud-based or distributed storage systems.
• Exposure to software-defined storage or large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
• Understanding of high-availability systems, filesystems, or networking protocols.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
