Software Engineer III (C++/Java)

Location: Rome, New York, United States; must be local to the work location, with occasional telework available.

Projected compensation: $92,978.75–$161,672.00 per year.

What you will do

• Research, design, develop, document, test, and debug software for a cross-domain guarding solution.
• Analyze and prototype features addressing security and enterprise requirements.
• Contribute to baseline development and maintain software standards across the full engineering lifecycle.
• Design and implement applications using object-oriented principles, scientific analysis, and mathematical models.
• Collaborate with systems analysts, programmers, hardware engineers, Scrum production teams, and field engineers.
• Coordinate software installations and monitor system operation against specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5–7 years of experience, or a master’s degree with 3–5 years, or a PhD with 0–2 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience with Java, C++/C, Python, Go, Linux containers, Kubernetes, and Helm Charts.
• Experience designing and implementing software with object-oriented principles and patterns.
• Ability to participate in multiple simultaneous efforts and work across the full software engineering lifecycle.
• Ability to capture and document software designs and functionality.

Nice to have

• Secret security clearance.
• Scrum and test-driven development experience.
• Experience with virtual machines, cloud environments, repositories, databases, specialized hardware, or federated technologies.
• Experience developing video or data streaming applications, securing operating systems, or working with cross-domain guard technology.
• Knowledge of public-key cryptography or Microsoft Windows application development.
