Staff Software Engineer (Storage and Caching)

Location: Bellevue, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Santa Monica, or Seattle, United States. Office work is expected 4+ days per week under hirify.global's "default together" policy.

Salary: $195,000–$343,000 annual base salary depending on pay zone, plus RSU equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Define multi-quarter and multi-year technical roadmaps for service infrastructure, including service mesh, compute, observability, and related platform capabilities.
• Design, build, and operate foundational backend infrastructure for critical services across hirify.global.
• Lead complex technical initiatives from architecture and implementation through rollout and iteration.
• Partner with infrastructure and product engineering teams on technical direction, priorities, trade-offs, and platform investments.
• Improve developer and operator experience through durable systems, abstractions, reliability practices, and operational mechanisms.
• Mentor engineers, resolve cross-team technical conflicts, and identify responsible applications of AI for platform quality and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software development experience, or an equivalent combination of advanced technical education and experience.
• Experience designing, building, and operating backend or distributed systems in production at significant scale.
• Experience leading architecture or platform direction beyond an individual team and influencing partner teams.
• Strong knowledge of system design, APIs, service architecture, compute platforms, storage, observability, and workflow orchestration.
• Experience owning highly available, mission-critical systems, including operational readiness and incident response.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with service mesh, compute platforms, observability, cloud infrastructure, storage systems, or platform architecture.
• Experience with large-scale microservices, Kubernetes, containers, developer platforms, or internal infrastructure tooling.
• Experience with Go, Java, Python, C++, or similar backend languages.
• Experience applying AI to infrastructure, developer tooling, platform quality, or engineering productivity.
