Sr Counsel, Workers Compensation

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States

Salary: $132,800–$219,100 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Independently manage a caseload of high-exposure workers compensation and complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
• Try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions using advanced litigation skills and techniques.
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Attend hearings, court events, depositions, and other appointments; travel as required by business needs.
• Develop case strategies with insured clients, Claim partners, expert witnesses, and consultants.
• Mentor attorneys and legal support staff, provide legal training and updates, and support office and business initiatives.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including insurance defense litigation.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Proven experience handling jury trials, hearings, dispositive motion arguments, depositions, and other court proceedings.
• Advanced oral and written advocacy, legal research, negotiation, case analysis, and presentation skills.
• Valid driver's license required depending on the location, with the ability to travel to court proceedings and meetings.
