Senior Network Engineer (LAN)

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and lifecycle management of business LAN infrastructure across refinery sites.
• Develop LAN standards, reference designs, resiliency patterns, configuration baselines, and implementation guidance.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, outages, performance issues, and recurring reliability problems.
• Troubleshoot Layer 1 and Layer 2 infrastructure, including structured cabling, fiber, optics, VLANs, trunks, spanning tree, link aggregation, and switch stacks.
• Support Layer 3 integration, cybersecurity controls, monitoring, documentation, network refreshes, construction projects, and office moves.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate technical changes with site IT, cybersecurity, facilities, vendors, contractors, telecom providers, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant network engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in structured cabling, copper and fiber standards, patch panels, optics, rack layouts, cable management, testing, and fiber troubleshooting.
• Advanced Layer 2 switching experience with VLANs, trunks, spanning tree, loop prevention, link aggregation, switch stacking, port security, and access-layer resiliency.
• Experience designing and documenting LAN architectures for large or complex environments and working with enterprise switching platforms such as Cisco or Arista.
• Technical leadership, project coordination, stakeholder communication, and experience with safe cutovers in active operational environments.

Nice to have

• Layer 3 integration experience with subnetting, gateways, DHCP relay, routed uplinks, firewalls, wireless connectivity, and routing handoffs.
• Experience in regulated, refinery, industrial, or other uptime-sensitive environments.
• Knowledge of 802.1X, NAC, secure management, configuration compliance, vulnerability remediation, monitoring, packet analysis, cable certification, OTDR, automation, or scripting.
• CCNP, CCNA, BICSI, FOA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certification.
