Occupational Health Nurse (RN)

Location: Carson, California, United States; onsite at the Los Angeles Refinery

Salary: $80,800–$139,500 per year, plus a 15% geographical differential.

What you will do

• Evaluate illnesses and injuries, provide treatment within the RN scope of practice, and coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
• Manage occupational and non-occupational cases, including leave coordination and safe return-to-work conditions.
• Conduct medical surveillance examinations, drug and alcohol specimen collections, blood collections, and maintain electronic medical records.
• Provide first aid, immunizations, health consultations, and onsite training in CPR, first aid, and AED use.
• Respond to medical incidents, provide after-hours coverage, and support scheduled projects and unplanned refinery outages.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements, health regulations, HIPAA, and company medical-record standards.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in nursing or equivalent required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
• Active RN license in the state where the position is located is required.
• Two to five years of relevant experience; experience in occupational health, a hospital, or an emergency department is desired.
• Strong prioritization, multitasking, problem-solving, communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• First Aid, CPR/AED, CAOHC, drug collection and breath alcohol testing, or spirometry certifications.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ADA, HIPAA, FMLA, and workers’ compensation requirements.
• COHN/COHN-S certification or progress toward occupational health nursing certification.
