Maintenance Manufacturing Assistance Instructor II (Manufacturing)

Location: Brownsville, Texas, with training deliveries in Corpus Christi and possible deployment within the State of Texas. Telecommuting is permitted under TEEX guidelines; the role requires travel to training and remote locations.

Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service provides emergency response training, workforce training, and technical assistance through the Texas A&M University System.

What you will do

• Deliver maintenance and manufacturing systems training for the RAMI/TRAIN and COAST projects.
• Teach installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment while reinforcing safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Adapt instruction to adult learners and diverse learning styles using classroom, online, media, and technology-based delivery methods.
• Monitor learner performance, assess instructional effectiveness, and contribute to curriculum development.
• Coordinate training schedules, participant registration, logistics, records, and quality-control activities.
• Collaborate with program staff, clients, jurisdictions, students, and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or an applicable field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years of hands-on maintenance experience and one year of adult education or maintenance-operations training experience.
• Equivalent pathways include an associate degree with seven years of hands-on maintenance experience or a high school diploma/GED with nine years of hands-on maintenance experience.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, facilitation, communication, presentation, organization, and customer service.
• Ability to support training for up to 8–10 hours per day, move training equipment up to 50 pounds, use personal protective equipment, work in adverse weather, and travel independently.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Proficient Spanish communication skills.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical systems and PLCs such as Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
• Knowledge of advanced manufacturing automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0.
