TL;DR
Assistant Professor of Practice - CID (Criminal Justice): Delivering online, student-centered instruction in criminal justice and law enforcement leadership with an accent on curriculum development, competency-based learning, and workforce alignment. Focus on analyzing student performance data, improving courses, mentoring learners, and building partnerships with criminal justice and public safety organizations.

Location: Primarily remote; job location listed as Dallas, Texas, United States. Occasional travel to hirify.global campuses and other locations is required.

What you will do

  • Teach assigned criminal justice courses online using student-centered and innovative practices.
  • Support students through regular communication, academic assistance, timely feedback, and progress monitoring.
  • Contribute to course design, curriculum review, assessment, accreditation support, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with faculty, instructional designers, advisors, industry partners, and academic success teams.
  • Maintain professional engagement and build partnerships with employers, alumni, advisory boards, and community organizations.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, commencement ceremonies, professional development, recruitment, and other university activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field, including at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in Criminal Justice, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years of related industry experience.
  • Active Texas peace officer status and a Texas peace officer license are required.
  • Leadership experience in a Texas criminal justice, public safety, law enforcement, corrections, emergency management, or closely related organization.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, supervise, or develop others; communicate effectively; manage confidential information; and work cooperatively in a fully online distributed environment.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated workspace are required; occasional campus and event travel is required.

Nice to have

  • Terminal degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Leadership, Homeland Security, or a related discipline.
  • College-level teaching experience and experience with competency-based education, online instruction, or adult learners.
  • Professional organization, industry association, or advisory board involvement.
  • Progressive supervisory, management, or command-level experience in criminal justice or public safety.
  • Experience developing or delivering professional training, academy instruction, leadership development, or workforce education.
