TL;DR
Manufacturing Lead (Surgical Robotics): Leading daily production activities for the OTTAVA surgical robotics manufacturing organization with an accent on electromechanical assembly, troubleshooting, quality compliance, and technician development. Focus on coordinating production execution, resolving complex system issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions, and driving Lean and Kaizen improvements.

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; onsite, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM. Occasional evening or weekend work and overtime may be required.

Base pay: $69,000–$111,090 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead daily production-floor activities and coordinate technician priorities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop manufacturing technicians while providing hands-on support for assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and skills development.
  • Coordinate shift handoffs and communicate production status, risks, staffing, material, equipment, quality, and schedule issues.
  • Maintain compliance with manufacturing procedures, quality standards, safety requirements, training qualifications, hazardous-waste handling, and calibration requirements.
  • Create, review, and release work orders in MES/ERP systems; maintain material transactions, cycle counts, and shortage reporting.
  • Support engineering with root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and lead Kaizen and Lean manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with 6–8 years of related experience, or an engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent degree with 6–8 years of related experience.
  • Experience as a Manufacturing Technician in a Type II or Type III medical-device company or complex electromechanical capital-equipment manufacturer, including Good Documentation Practices.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including multimeters and isolation techniques.
  • Experience leading teams, coordinating production activities, mentoring personnel, and supporting execution in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with SAP and MES/ERP systems, multiple assembly and test tasks, and anti-static/ESD controls.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed mechanical, technical, system, and manufacturing documentation; familiarity with torque wrenches, screwdrivers, multimeters, presses, IPA, and Loctite adhesives.

Nice to have

  • Experience with New Product Introduction builds and change-management implementation in regulated manufacturing.
  • Participation in Lean manufacturing or Kaizen events.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or equivalent continuous-improvement training.
  • Familiarity with 5 Whys, Fishbone, or DMAIC-lite problem-solving tools.
  • Experience training or certifying technicians across multiple system modules.
