TL;DR
Supplier Quality Manager (Aerospace): Leading supplier quality strategy and supplier performance for aerospace and defense components with an accent on APQP, risk mitigation, nonconformance management, and root-cause-based corrective actions. Focus on developing SQE teams, improving supplier processes, and ensuring compliance with AS9100, AS9145, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Burbank, California, United States; onsite role. Access to controlled ITAR data may be required, and only U.S. Persons will be considered.

Salary: $142,555.60–$175,892.80 per year, with some roles potentially eligible for performance-based bonuses.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components for aerospace and defense applications, including aircraft, satellites, missiles, unmanned aerial systems, and medical implants.

What you will do

  • Lead the supplier quality strategy and manage quality and compliance performance across the Burbank supply base.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Supplier Quality Engineers supporting product design and introduction.
  • Oversee supplier nonconformances, NCRs, SRRs, material review dispositions, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Deploy and continuously improve AS9145 and APQP practices to establish a zero-defect culture.
  • Coordinate Supplier Quality with Receiving Inspection and improve incoming quality verification.
  • Manage supplier risk assessments, performance KPIs, audits, development plans, and strategic improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or related work in aerospace, defense, space electronics, or another high-reliability industry.
  • 3+ years of leadership or people management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, process control, APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, process capability, and SPC.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution; mechanical engineering is preferred, with electrical engineering, materials science, or chemistry also considered.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, investigative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person if access to ITAR-controlled data is required.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience, including GD&T for machining and grinding.
  • Experience with NADCAP special-process requirements and AS9100 auditing.
  • ASQ CQM or CQE certification.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience.
  • Success leading supplier improvement or development initiatives.
