System Administrator 2/3 (Linux)

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; on-site. Core hours: 10:00–14:00. United States citizenship and an appropriate security clearance are required.

Hourly pay: $42.42–$118.30, before benefits.

What you will do

• Provide implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, maintenance, and day-to-day operational support for IT infrastructure.
• Administer Linux and Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance improvements.
• Support Linux physical systems and virtual machines in a mixed contractor and civilian system administration team.
• Resolve Tier I and Tier II issues involving authentication, DNS, shared drives, home directories, desktops, storage, and network devices.
• Manage tickets in JIRA, monitor mission-critical systems, and communicate escalation status to management and internal customers.
• Configure network components and support dispatch, hardware, storage, and system-related problem resolution.

Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance with an agency-appropriate polygraph is required.
• United States citizenship is required.
• Level 2: 10 years of system administration experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Level 3: 15 years of system administration experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; five additional years of system administration experience may substitute for the degree.
• Linux administration, DISA STIG compliance, virtualization, IP networking, firewall administration, and some container or cloud experience.

Nice to have

• Automation with Ansible or Salt.
• Scripting with Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Storage management solutions and arrays such as NetApp or Isilon.
• Hyperconverged infrastructure experience with Harvester, Nutanix, or Cisco HyperFlex.
