System Storage Administrator

Location: San Jose, CA, USA; on-site infrastructure work includes moving servers between the main data center, colocation facility, and labs.

Salary: USD 85,000–90,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Engineer, install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows servers, virtualization platforms, infrastructure services, and system software.
• Manage storage environments including NetApp, Dell/EMC, and Pure Storage, covering provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, recovery, and vendor troubleshooting.
• Operate backup, archival, access-control, monitoring, and security-patch processes while reporting compliance and investigating potential intrusions.
• Administer VMware, Jenkins, Git, LDAP, Foreman, GLPI, Apache, EDA tools, and FlexLM licenses.
• Automate system administration tasks with Ansible and maintain installation, configuration, operational, and security procedures.
• Provide Tier III support, troubleshoot and recover from hardware or software failures, and coordinate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of system administration experience in Linux environments.
• Advanced VMware administration and management skills, including Jenkins, Git, and DevOps tool administration.
• Strong experience with storage servers, especially NetApp and Pure Storage, plus provisioning, monitoring, backup and recovery, and access control.
• Experience with shell scripting, cron jobs, log analysis, user and group management, iptables, mail services, web technologies, reverse proxies, SSL certificates, and service-oriented architectures.
• CompTIA Security+ or another DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II-compliant certification, or equivalent experience, is required; Linux administration certifications such as Linux+, RHCSA, or RHCE are preferred.
• Ability to work independently, multitask, communicate professionally, lift 50 lbs, and provide after-hours or weekend support when required.
