TL;DR
Linux System Administrator (Intermediate-Level) (RHEL/Linux infrastructure): Operating, securing, and maintaining enterprise Linux systems supporting Army IT and biometric operations with an accent on system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure reliability. Focus on configuring enterprise services, automating administration with Bash and Ansible, troubleshooting complex incidents, and supporting virtualization and modernization in a secure DoD environment.

Location: Onsite in Clarksburg, West Virginia, USA; non-remote. Relocation incentive available.

Salary: USD 70,000–90,000 yearly

What you will do

  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and secure enterprise Linux systems supporting Army IT Portfolio systems and biometric operations.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and harden RHEL and derivative Linux systems in line with DoD STIGs and security requirements.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, authentication, access controls, and services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP, SSH, web services, and file sharing.
  • Analyze performance and security issues, remediate vulnerabilities, and participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and recovery activities.
  • Develop administration and configuration automation using Bash, Ansible, and related tools.
  • Support virtualization, cloud infrastructure, system modernization, technical documentation, and collaboration with cybersecurity, networking, and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoW Secret Clearance.
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification or higher, such as Security+ CE, SSCP, or GSEC.
  • At least three years of relevant IT experience administering RHEL, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, CentOS, or related distributions.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux installation, configuration, patching, enterprise services, troubleshooting, user administration, file systems, processes, and logging.
  • Experience writing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Bash scripts for systems administration and automation.
  • Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, adapt to changing mission requirements, and produce technical documentation and system diagrams.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting DoD, Army, or federal government environments.
  • Knowledge of RMF, STIG implementation, ACAS, SCAP, vulnerability remediation, Ansible, Satellite, or Git.
  • Experience integrating Linux with Active Directory, LDAP, SSSD, or enterprise identity management systems.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, Red Hat Virtualization, biometrics, high-availability environments, or Linux certifications such as RHCSA or RHCE.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Apache, and Nginx.
