Director of Workday HCM Engineering & Intelligent Workforce Experiences (AI)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $139,400–$230,000, plus performance-based cash incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead Software Engineers and Business Systems Consultants through technical guidance, mentorship, skill development, and performance leadership.
• Direct Workday design, development, configuration, testing, debugging, documentation, monitoring, alerting, and implementation.
• Lead investigations and resolution of critical defects, incidents, and high-impact platform problems.
• Establish scalable HR technology solutions and identify opportunities to improve business efficiency.
• Apply current engineering practices and industry trends to shape software and Workday delivery strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and work experience.
• At least six additional years of software engineering experience and five years of related experience.
• Hands-on Workday HCM, Financials, or Integrations experience, including Studio, EIB, or Orchestration.
• Experience leading Agile Workday implementations, enhancements, and support across the full delivery lifecycle.
• Experience establishing configuration governance, code quality standards, change control, automated testing, and documentation practices.
• Experience in the insurance or financial services industry, with strong communication, problem-solving, stakeholder partnership, and leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience identifying, piloting, and scaling AI-driven HR technology solutions, including agentic workflows, intelligent automation, and generative AI integrations.
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as Sana.
