Director of Engineering (Payments)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model. Candidates must independently have eligibility to work in the United States for any employer. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $207,000–$276,000 USD per year for San Francisco, with discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Direct software engineering teams and oversee delivery of quality applications across the full software development lifecycle and testing.
• Set engineering strategy, align technology initiatives with business goals, and allocate resources across multiple projects.
• Coordinate application architecture and design for new applications and enhancements to existing services.
• Lead cloud, containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, and operational-readiness initiatives.
• Improve Agile software development practices, quality metrics, standards, and process controls.
• Hire, mentor, evaluate, and develop engineers and managers while collaborating with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years of leadership experience.
• Experience leading engineering teams that build highly scalable products and large Internet applications with high operational requirements.
• Experience with cloud application solutions, containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, and security guidelines.
• Knowledge of architecture and design, open-source operating systems and frameworks, databases, networking, security, and Big Data Java technologies.
• Agile development experience, oversight of multiple projects, strong communication skills, and ability to manage deadline-driven work.

• Payments industry experience.
• Experience migrating application services from on-premises environments to the cloud.
• Cloud or Kubernetes certification.
