SRE Tech Lead Manager, Video Platform - USDS (Video Platform)

Location: Seattle; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $198,360–$416,100 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Site Reliability Engineers building observable, fault-tolerant video services.
• Drive architectural decisions for large-scale, globally distributed service mesh architectures.
• Establish production ownership models, incident response protocols, and service level agreements.
• Develop roadmaps for observability and automation initiatives that improve system reliability.
• Lead career development, performance evaluation, team growth, and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with security and compliance teams to implement data protection and regulatory controls.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience operating high-availability web services at massive scale, including cloud-native architectures and advanced networking.
• Experience with video streaming, video processing, or related services in design, development, or SRE.
• Previous experience leading a small to mid-size team while remaining hands-on technically.
• Strong Unix/Linux internals and networking fundamentals, plus production-grade programming in Go, Python, Java, or a similar language.
• Proven experience establishing and implementing SRE best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale Kubernetes systems.
• Deep expertise in algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
• Previous SRE or development experience in video processing applications.
