Engineering Manager, SDET - AI Detection and Response (AIDR) (Hybrid)

Location: USA — Sunnyvale, California; hybrid work with 2–3 days per week on-site at one of the posted locations.

Base salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, with bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, recruit, and develop a team of SDETs while remaining hands-on in coding and technical delivery.
• Own testing strategy across functional, performance, contract, and chaos/resilience testing for AIDR services.
• Build test frameworks, automation, tooling, and quality gates across CI/CD pipelines.
• Debug distributed-system failures, trace production issues, identify root causes, and create regression tests.
• Partner with backend, UI, and product engineering teams on testability, code quality, observability, and reliability.
• Manage team capacity, sprint planning, delivery commitments, and shared testing infrastructure.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development or SDET experience, including 3+ years leading SDET or quality engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on coding and debugging skills for complex distributed systems, race conditions, and performance bottlenecks.
• Experience building testing frameworks for Cloud SaaS or service-oriented products at scale.
• Expertise in at least one of Golang, Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript; experience with Go is especially relevant.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, AWS, GCP, or OCI.
• Experience with API testing, UI automation, CI/CD, containerized environments, and high-volume data systems.

Nice to have

• Cybersecurity or security-focused product experience.
• Knowledge of AI/ML security threats and mitigation strategies.
• Experience with gRPC, event-driven messaging, chaos engineering, resilience testing, and large-scale performance testing.
• Experience with Azure, GCP, OCI, UI validation frameworks, AI tools, or agentic testing workflows.
