Equity Analyst (Energy & Materials)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States; employees work in the office at least four days per week, with flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Base salary: $158,000–$237,000 per year, with potential variable compensation through bonuses, commissions, and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Conduct fundamental research across oil and gas, energy services, chemicals, metals and mining, packaging, and construction materials.
• Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, price targets, risk assessments, and investment recommendations.
• Partner with portfolio managers and investment leadership on holdings, candidate investments, benchmark performance, and portfolio changes.
• Prepare research reports, earnings updates, sector commentary, thematic publications, and presentations.
• Support advisor engagements, educational events, webinars, and due diligence discussions by explaining complex investment views clearly.
• Maintain documentation, governance, and compliance standards for research and investment recommendations.

Requirements

• At least seven years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, asset management, or a related investment function, with expertise in energy and materials.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, or a related field.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, scenario analysis, and buy/hold/sell recommendation skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, including presenting to portfolio managers, advisors, and senior stakeholders.
• Valid U.S. work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship is required.
• Applicable securities licenses or registrations, or the ability to obtain required licensing within the established timeframe.

Nice to have

• MBA, CFA designation, or an advanced degree.
• Experience in buy-side, sell-side, registered investment advisor, separately managed account, or institutional investment environments.
