Senior Satellite Ground Operational C2 Engineer

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; full-time onsite role with travel as needed.

What you will do

• Provide systems engineering and technical advisory support for the SBI ground architecture and operational command-and-control systems.
• Develop and verify satellite command, telemetry, mission planning, and data processing capabilities.
• Lead integration across ground segments, space segments, test environments, and operational units.
• Support requirements development, traceability, acceptance criteria, system design reviews, and integration planning.
• Evaluate system performance and technical risks, recommending engineering solutions to government leadership.
• Participate in mission readiness exercises, test events, verification and validation, operational acceptance, and acquisition planning.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience with satellite ground systems, C2 architectures, or space systems engineering supporting USSF or DoD missions.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Experience with space system operations, telemetry, tracking and commanding, ground-to-space interfaces, and mission management systems.
• Knowledge of DoD space acquisition frameworks, SETA support roles, and system integration and test across ground-segment components.
• Understanding of real-time space operations and defensive space mission architectures.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with missile defense operations, OPIR, MDA, SDA, or defensive space programs.
• Experience developing Space C2 systems such as JMS, NSDC, or equivalent.
• Experience with on-orbit test planning, mission readiness events, and operational acceptance.
• Familiarity with digital engineering, MBSE, SysML, and Interface Control Documents.
