Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer - Payload (Aerospace Systems): Defining, integrating, verifying, and supporting complex spacecraft payload systems across the product lifecycle with an accent on requirements decomposition, interface management, and system architecture. Focus on developing verification strategies, maintaining end-to-end traceability, resolving integration discrepancies, and supporting mission execution.

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under space technology export regulations.

Salary: $133,000–$161,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead systems engineering activities for complex aerospace systems across definition, development, integration, verification, and operational support.
  • Analyze mission, customer, and system requirements and decompose them into clear, verifiable system and subsystem requirements.
  • Define and manage hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and data interfaces between payloads and space vehicles.
  • Support system architecture development, technical trade studies, engineering analyses, and configuration or baseline control.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies, configurations, acceptance criteria, traceability matrices, and verification evidence packages.
  • Partner with Integration & Test teams, evaluate test results, resolve discrepancies, support program planning, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, systems, electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline with typically 5–8 years of relevant experience; equivalent master’s or PhD paths are accepted with fewer years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, the systems development lifecycle, requirements development, management, and verification.
  • Experience with systems architecture, interface management, systems integration, configuration management, verification, and validation.
  • Experience or proficiency with requirements management tools such as Jama or IBM DOORS, MBSE tools such as CATIA Magic/Cameo or MagicDraw, and systems modeling and simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, collaboration platforms, version control tools such as Git, and issue tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Must meet U.S. space technology export-regulation eligibility requirements. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with spacecraft mission planning, launch support, on-orbit operations, mission readiness, and operational activities.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated engineering programs.
