Salary: $130,000–$150,000 per year for Engineer Principal SG9 or $150,000–$170,000 per year for Engineer Staff SG10.

What you will do

  • Perform advanced geotechnical engineering activities and projects for electric utility infrastructure.
  • Design earthwork, retaining walls, slope stability measures, and landslide mitigation solutions.
  • Design foundations including drilled piers, steel grillages, steel caissons, micropiles, helical piles, driven piles, and guy anchors.
  • Conduct subsurface investigations, desktop geologic research, and geotechnical construction activities.
  • Review and seal foundation and landslide mitigation designs as assigned.
  • Travel to field sites to diagnose geotechnical issues related to electric transmission lines and substations.

Requirements

  • Principal level: typically 8 or more years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6 years of experience with a master's degree or PhD.
  • Staff level: typically 12 or more years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 10 years of experience with a master's degree or PhD.
  • Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, or an accepted non-ABET bachelor's degree supplemented by a graduate degree from a university with an ABET-accredited bachelor's program.
  • Professional Engineer registration in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, leadership, communication, collaboration, planning, and organization.
  • Monday–Friday schedule of 8 hours per day; some approved overtime may be required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with electric utility projects.
  • Experience with SLOPE/W or equivalent slope stability software, FAD Tools, LPILE, SHAFT, GROUP, and Civil 3D.
