Sr Principal Structural Engineer (Oil & Gas)

Location: Houston, Texas; onsite five days a week. Ability to work in the United States and travel internationally is required.

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year.

What you will do

• Develop structural, civil, foundation, skid, and modular building designs for compressor stations, power-generation facilities, offshore single-lift modules, and other oil and gas projects.
• Perform structural analysis and calculations and produce design reports, drawings, specifications, connection details, and foundation interface loads.
• Prepare project schedules, proposal man-hour estimates, cost estimates, and cost-reduction recommendations.
• Coordinate with mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, suppliers, customers, fabrication, quality, and purchasing teams.
• Support equipment transportation, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up, including travel to fabrication and customer sites.
• Review engineering deliverables, recommend design and process changes, mentor junior engineers, and resolve complex structural problems.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of oil and gas industry experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License in the State of Texas is required.
• Familiarity with ASTM, ACI, CRSI, ASCE, OSHA, IBC, AWS, PIP, and ASCE wind-load requirements for petrochemical and industrial facilities.
• Experience with structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, RAMconnect, and MathCAD.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work in the United States are required.

Nice to have

• Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering licenses in other states.
• Experience with API 2A, NFPA, international codes, fabrication facilities, or 6-Sigma.
• Basic knowledge of turbines, compressors, generators, and related mechanical equipment.
• Technical Spanish reading and writing ability and a current US passport.
