Senior Engineer - Civil/Structural Engineering Standards (Transmission and Substation)

Location: Hybrid role based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, United States

Salary: $103,200–$141,900 per year, plus a 15% annual bonus for eligible positions

What you will do

• Develop, review, update, and implement transmission and substation engineering design standards across multiple voltage levels.
• Manage engineering practices, material specifications, construction specifications, and generic design drawings.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for technical questions on material application and design standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, planning, field, testing, commissioning, and equipment specialist groups to ensure safe, effective, and constructible standards.
• Work with vendors and industry organizations to improve materials, designs, and technical practices.
• Investigate failure modes and industry trends, lead multidisciplinary efforts, and recommend reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a Professional Engineer license issued by the state of practice.
• 7+ years of professional engineering experience, with thorough expertise in a specialized engineering area.
• Knowledge of engineering design principles, applicable standards, codes, methods, and practices.
• Ability to analyze complex electrical and mechanical systems, apply engineering theory, and resolve complex issues.
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of applicable engineering analysis software and the ability to analyze industry trends and implement enhancements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering, advanced technical degree, MBA, project management certification, or leadership in a recognized industry committee.
• Professional Engineer license and experience across multiple related technical career assignments.
