Civil Engineer (Electric Power Engineering)

Location: Remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; office work with required field work and typical travel of 10–15%.

Salary: $70,000–$100,000 per year.

What you will do

• Perform civil and structural engineering design and analysis for generating plants, transmission and distribution lines, substations, utility facilities, and industrial and commercial facilities.
• Design equipment layouts, elevations, plans, profiles, grading and road plans, foundations, structural steel, bus and connection details, buildings, conductor stringing tables, fences, permitting documents, and drainage plans.
• Assist with equipment selection, technical specifications, cost estimates, project scheduling, and review of submittals for design and specification compliance.
• Prepare hand calculations, computer-based calculations, structural models, cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and project studies.
• Perform field inspections and construction supervision, and check the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel.
• Apply relevant codes and standards and communicate with clients, customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Requirements

• 0+ years of engineering or relevant field experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a similar field from an accredited institution.
• Strong written and verbal command of English.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States.
• Ability to work in an office setting and perform field work.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Ability to manage an assigned work schedule, self-check deliverables, identify discrepancies, and escalate them promptly to the responsible supervisor or engineer.

Nice to have

• FE licensure or examination preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, modeling and design software such as SAP2000, PLS-CADD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
