Software Engineer (F-15)

Location: Onsite at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio, United States; travel up to 15% as required for program support.

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to full life cycle software engineering, including design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment.
• Apply aeronautical vehicle systems and avionics Operational Flight Program knowledge to mission-critical software development.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to junior and journeyman-level software engineering personnel.
• Develop, review, and maintain software requirements, architecture and design documentation, test plans, lifecycle plans, and software strategies.
• Collaborate with program management, engineering, test, and international stakeholders.
• Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, and design evaluations while maintaining compliance with DoD and USAF standards.

Requirements

• Advanced software engineering knowledge and the ability to work independently and oversee less experienced personnel.
• Significant experience supporting DoD software development for avionics or mission systems, including architecture, implementation, testing, and sustainment.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of software experience.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance are required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with USAF or DoD software programs involving avionics, airborne systems, or defense platforms.
• Familiarity with SDLC in a defense acquisition environment and Foreign Military Sales software programs.
• Software test and evaluation experience in aerospace or mission-critical systems.
• Experience with Agile, DevSecOps, or model-based systems engineering environments.
