Principal Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Southern Pines, North Carolina, United States; hybrid environment with occasional travel

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for advanced aerospace software systems.
• Drive technology and product advancements within an Agile software development team.
• Design, develop, document, test, debug, and integrate application software and system components.
• Define software and system architecture, design modules, and produce technical documentation.
• Develop software used by U.S. Special Operations Forces and rapidly deliver operational capabilities.
• Lead major projects, mentor engineering teams, and ensure software standards are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 14+ years of software development experience.
• Extensive experience implementing Tactical Data Link protocols, including Variable Message Format (VMF) and Link 16.
• Experience implementing tactical data link architecture components, including Network Enabled Weapons.
• Extensive experience with C# and ASP.NET Core, including software design and development.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Scala, Python, Go, or C++ development experience.
• Experience with AI, machine learning, cloud computing, RTOS, or embedded systems.
• Aerospace and defense industry experience.
• Experience with requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, artifact repositories, and automated builds.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral methodologies and strong data structures knowledge.
