TL;DR
Maintenance Shop Technician (Heavy-Duty Trucks): Repairing and maintaining diesel and non-diesel trucks and equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, braking, engine, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, steering, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with an accent on advanced diagnostics and complex multi-system repairs. Focus on diagnosing vehicle malfunctions with electronic scan tools, servicing aftertreatment and emissions systems, and performing line maintenance, welding, and fabrication.

Location: Dixon, California, USA; on-site fleet maintenance role.

Pay: $31.25–$42.95 per hour, depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

  • Repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel trucks and equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, engines, braking, suspension, drivetrain, steering, HVAC, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose complex multi-system issues using electronic tools and scan equipment.
  • Service diesel fuel, aftertreatment, REGEN, and emissions systems.
  • Perform line maintenance, welding, and fabrication on-site and on the road.
  • Complete company training programs and support drivers operating the fleet.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience working as a technician on heavy-duty trucks.
  • Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate strong technical expertise.
  • Ability to independently inspect and repair several heavy-truck or automotive systems, including suspension and steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • ASE Heavy Truck Certifications T1–T8, LNG/CNG experience, and Class B or higher CDL are beneficial but not required.
