Senior Mental Health Clinician (Embedded)

Location: College Station, Texas, United States. The role is housed in an off-site campus counseling office, with travel to Round Rock, Houston, or Kingsville approximately once per month per semester. Evening and weekend work may be required for outreach, crisis response, and embedded appointments.

Salary: Starting at $83,000 annually.

What you will do

• Provide mental health counseling and crisis intervention to individuals, couples, and groups.
• Assess clients independently, create care plans, provide treatment, and coordinate referrals and case management.
• Manage complex and high-risk situations, including crisis stabilization and hospitalization when appropriate.
• Deliver outreach, presentations, workshops, and mental health education for students, faculty, and staff.
• Provide consultation to faculty, staff, trainees, students, and families regarding student mental health and well-being.
• Supervise, train, and mentor practicum students, provisionally licensed clinicians, and early-career professionals when assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or another degree accepted by the relevant Texas licensing board.
• Five years of full-time equivalent independent licensure experience in a college or university counseling center or another relevant setting.
• Current LPC, LMFT, or LCSW certification.
• Must obtain and maintain licensure in the State of Texas within one year of employment.
• Eligibility to provide supervision in accordance with the Texas licensing board.
• Ability to work autonomously from an off-site office, collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment, maintain timely documentation, and handle PII and PHI in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, and applicable policies.

Nice to have

• Seven or more years of experience in a university or college counseling center or closely related setting.
• Experience with off-site higher education counseling, private practice, crisis intervention, risk assessment, outreach, or mental health education.
• Experience supervising clinical trainees or licensed associate clinicians.
• Ability to provide counseling in more than one language used by Texas A&M students.
• Training in evidence-based practices or related areas of specialization.
