Professional Counselor II

Location: Laredo, Texas, United States; on-campus, face-to-face work with a regular attendance schedule required

Salary: $4,446 per month proposed minimum; $53,352 annually

What you will do

• Provide mental health counseling and crisis intervention to individuals, couples, and groups.
• Administer and interpret psychological tests and inventories, make referrals, and manage counseling cases.
• Consult with faculty, staff, students, parents, peers, and leadership on counseling-related matters.
• Deliver counseling and wellness outreach through workshops, presentations, information tables, class presentations, and other campus activities.
• Provide training or adjunct supervision for graduate students, provisionally licensed interns, and practica students when assigned.
• Maintain timely clinical documentation, participate in professional development, serve on committees, and support departmental administration.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related specialty.
• At least one year of post-master’s experience in a college counseling center or another relevant setting.
• Texas professional licensure as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW is required or preferred according to the position requirements.
• Regular on-campus attendance and face-to-face interaction are required.
• Evening and/or weekend hours and rotating on-call responsibilities are required; travel may be required.
• Ability to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, multitask, organize work, and collaborate with the university community.

Nice to have

• Counseling and outreach experience in a university setting.
• Experience with veterans counseling or drug and alcohol counseling.
• Experience with campus-related issues and diverse student populations.
