TL;DR
Corporate Process Safety Specialist (Manufacturing): Leading global process safety standards, hazard assessments, audits, incident investigations, and risk-reduction strategies for manufacturing operations with an accent on HAZOP, LOPA, reactive chemical hazards, and management of change. Focus on guiding process safety technology decisions, investigating incidents and near misses, and coordinating EHS, operations, engineering, R&D, legal, and external stakeholders.

Location: On-site in Maplewood, Minnesota, with some remote work allowed; travel to Maplewood, Austin, or other hirify.global locations is required at least 4 days per week. Travel may reach 30% domestically and internationally. Relocation assistance may be authorized.

Expected compensation: $145,676–$178,049 per year, including base pay and variable incentive pay if eligible.

What you will do

  • Provide global process safety leadership and technical expertise to improve sustained safety performance.
  • Develop process safety standards, training, tools, communications, audits, and implementation guidance.
  • Lead hazard assessment reviews involving LOPA scenarios, reactive chemicals, HAZOP, and management of change.
  • Guide process safety technology and risk-mitigation strategies with manufacturing technology and CAPEX teams.
  • Lead incident investigations, root-cause reviews, and the replication of lessons across applicable facilities.
  • Coordinate global process safety audits and networks while collaborating with EHS, operations, engineering, R&D, legal, occupational medicine, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science, completed and verified before starting.
  • At least five years of process safety experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • Experience with process safety hazard assessment tools and controls for fires, explosions, chemical releases, and other unplanned events.
  • Knowledge of process technology, manufacturing hazards, process safety regulations, and risk-reduction strategies.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship.
  • Strong communication, documentation, project management, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in process engineering, design engineering, manufacturing, or another EHS discipline.
  • Master’s degree or higher in engineering, science, or EHS.
  • CCPSC, PE, CSP, or a related EHS credential.
  • Multilingual communication skills and experience with external benchmarking or trade associations.
