Process Safety Manager

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, at a refinery; relocation is included. The role requires regular field work, refinery PPE, and the ability to perform physical tasks onsite. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time indefinite basis without current or future employment visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Lead the Salt Lake City Process Safety Management Group and supervise direct reports.
• Develop, implement, and execute OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Plan programs.
• Own process safety elements including Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, Process Hazard Analyses, Layers of Protection Analyses, facility siting, and risk calibration.
• Track process safety goals, budgets, metrics, recommendations, and continuous improvement activities.
• Lead incident investigations, review loss-of-primary-containment calculations, and embed incident learnings.
• Coordinate regulatory, compliance, insurance, DOT, and process safety audits while coaching and developing process safety personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Petroleum Engineering.
• At least five years of engineering, refining, midstream, operations, maintenance, technical services, process safety, environmental, or safety experience with a bachelor’s degree; ten years without one.
• Strong understanding of relevant regulations, RAGAGEP, and industry standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work physically in a refinery, wear appropriate PPE, and complete a hair drug test and physical.
• US work authorization without employment visa sponsorship and a valid driver’s license are required.

Nice to have

• Six to ten years of experience in a refining environment.
• Experience implementing OSHA process safety standards.
• Experience with Power BI or a similar reporting and analytics system.
• Excellent communication, organization, planning, and facilitation skills.
