Engineering Manager, Employee Experience - USDS (Security)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person schedule of up to 5 days per week

Salary: $208,800–$616,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Lead automation and infrastructure modernization across employee network and endpoint environments.
• Design telemetry-driven diagnostics, monitoring, root-cause analysis, and proactive alerting workflows.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code and API-first operations using Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, and vendor platform integrations.
• Improve automated testing for infrastructure deployments, operating-system upgrades, and security rule changes.
• Transform the engineering culture through mentoring, scalable architecture, code reviews, and SLO-driven operations.
• Oversee security governance, compliance automation, incident response, vulnerability management, and cross-functional projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network, endpoint, or infrastructure security, including 3+ years managing software and infrastructure engineering teams.
• Experience transforming traditional IT operations teams into automation-first engineering organizations.
• Deep expertise in Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, and at least two of enterprise firewalls, UEM/MDM, cloud networking, or endpoint security.
• Practical experience integrating vendor platforms through REST or GraphQL APIs and applying automation or AI tools.
• Strong project management, communication, cross-functional leadership, and executive reporting skills.
• Understanding of information security technologies, compliance standards, and governance frameworks.

Nice to have

• Experience with Palo Alto Panorama/Prisma, Workspace ONE, CrowdStrike, Meraki, Infoblox, or Akamai WAF.
• Experience building AI-assisted operational workflows with LangChain, LLM orchestration, or similar frameworks.
• GitOps, observability platforms such as Prometheus, Datadog, or Splunk, and automated OS upgrade validation experience.
• CISSP, PCNSE, AWS/Azure/OCI networking certifications or contributions to open-source security tools.
