TL;DR
Project Manager (Staff - Staff Sr.) (EPC/CCGT): Managing complex new-generation power projects for SWEPCO across East Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas with an accent on construction safety, project controls, contracting, cost management, and stakeholder coordination. Focus on planning and executing combined-cycle gas turbine projects, allocating contractual risk, mitigating delivery risks, and maintaining control of scope, budget, schedule, and quality.

Location: Hallsville, Texas, United States; on-site. Work is performed at offices, power plants, construction sites, and other AEP locations, with travel typically up to 25% and occasionally up to 50% for short periods.

Base salary: $137,000–$208,000 per year, with level-specific ranges of $137,000–$177,000 and $161,000–$208,000.

What you will do

  • Manage complex new-generation projects using Waterfall and Agile project management practices.
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, cost control, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, contracting, estimating, construction, startup, plant operations, vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Maintain safety, quality, scope, risk, schedule, and financial controls across projects.
  • Lead planning meetings, stakeholder presentations, project updates, and status reporting.
  • Provide guidance, training, accountability, and subject matter expertise to project teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, computer science, or a related discipline with 10 years of qualified experience; alternatively, an associate’s degree with 12 years or a high school diploma/GED with 14 years.
  • Expert-level experience in project management, major construction, estimating, project controls, project engineering, or comparable production environments.
  • Demonstrated mastery of construction safety, negotiations, scope control, cost estimating, construction contracting, reporting, quality control, and risk management.
  • PMP certification is required unless formally waived by the appropriate senior executive.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to perform light physical duties, including construction site walkdowns and ladder climbing.
  • Ability to work on-site at AEP facilities, power plants, and construction sites in the United States, including potentially hazardous nuclear-site areas.

Nice to have

  • Three years of experience as a Principal Project Manager or demonstrated equivalent competencies.
  • Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems.
