Staff Engineer, Money, Risk & Payment Ancillaries (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own architecture and technical direction across risk, fraud, scams, money operations, reconciliations, and chargebacks.
• Design low-latency systems for real-time transaction risk and fraud scoring.
• Build money movement, reconciliation, and auditable ledger systems with idempotency and exactly-once semantics.
• Develop platforms for scam prevention, disputes, representment, and chargeback lifecycle management.
• Design highly available, compliant, multi-tenant services with elastic scaling and automated observability.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, Data/ML, Compliance, and Staff Engineers across domains.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and deep expertise in Go and/or Kotlin.
• Experience architecting scalable distributed systems that are event-driven, high-throughput, and low-latency.
• Background building financial or risk-critical systems such as ledgers, reconciliations, fraud engines, or real-time decisioning platforms.
• Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native services, including RDS, ECS, EKS, and S3.
• Excellent automated testing practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, with Agile, DevSecOps, and CI/CD workflows.
• Advanced written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with fraud and risk models, ML feature pipelines, double-entry ledgers, card-network chargebacks, or APP-scam prevention.
• Knowledge of Kafka, exactly-once processing, event sourcing, and high-throughput performance optimization.
• Payments or fintech experience at global scale.
• Spanish proficiency, open-source contributions, technical writing, or experience introducing engineering standards across teams.
