Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Must be based in the UK (Remote or hybrid in London)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end delivery of product areas, from RFC design to production deployment.
• Build and maintain core banking systems including card issuing, reconciliation, and payment workflows.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to shape technical direction and feature requirements.
• Ensure system scalability, observability, and maintainability in a distributed environment.
• Influence team engineering standards through code reviews and architectural decision-making.

Requirements

• Must have the right to work in the UK.
• Deep experience in functional programming (Clojure, Elixir, Erlang, Haskell, Scala, or Scheme).
• Strong background in fintech, specifically with ledgers, payments, or regulatory compliance.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, consistency models, and idempotency.
• Experience working in collaborative, product-focused engineering teams.
• Ability to thrive in a startup environment with shifting priorities and ambiguity.
