Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote from Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, or South Africa

What you will do

• Deliver backend features from defined specifications through production.
• Build and ship backend services that handle real payment volume.
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions and technical decisions.
• Monitor production behavior, identify issues early, and help drive them to resolution.
• Write production-ready code with thoughtful error handling and maintainability.
• Collaborate on scoping sessions, code reviews, and the evolution of the Orchestration system.

Requirements

• Backend engineering experience and a track record of shipping working software to production.
• Understanding of backend system behavior and curiosity about production failures.
• Comfort with REST APIs and reliable service design patterns.
• Interest in monitoring, rollouts, and the operational health of deployed systems.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment, ask questions, accept feedback, and learn quickly.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure.
