Pharmacy Technician II (Specialty Pharmacy Services)

Location: Onsite at Tufts Medical Center; Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration required

Pay range: $23.04–$28.80 per hour

What you will do

• Prepare non-complex sterile and non-sterile medications, oral liquids, extemporaneous formulations, and bulk medications.
• Operate automated dispensing and unit-dose technologies to prepare, package, document, and replenish medications.
• Manage medication and supply inventory, including ordering, receiving, inspections, cycle counts, storage, and removal of expired products.
• Maintain emergency medication carts, kits, medication rooms, automated dispensing cabinets, and patient-specific medication bins.
• Process patient billing, third-party prescription benefits, pharmacy pay codes, and insurance issues.
• Support customers and patients by phone and in person while collaborating with nursing, physicians, and ancillary services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration.
• At least one year of pharmacy-related experience.
• Knowledge of medications, dosing forms, indications, formulary status, strengths, hazardous substance handling, and mathematical calculations.
• Ability to stand and walk for approximately 90% of the day, occasionally lift up to 30 pounds, and push equipment weighing 40–60 pounds.
• Strong organization, communication, telephone etiquette, accuracy, and ability to work efficiently.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree.
• Two years of pharmacy-related experience in a hospital setting.
