Project Manager (Staff – Staff Sr.) (New Generation)

Location: On-site in Columbus, Ohio, with work at various AEP offices, power plants, and construction sites across the United States; travel typically up to 25%, occasionally up to 50% for short periods.

Base salary: $137,000–$208,000 per year, depending on level and experience.

What you will do

• Plan, organize, coordinate, execute, monitor, control, and close complex EPC and combined-cycle gas turbine projects.
• Manage project plans, schedules, budgets, staffing, funding allocation, cost controls, reporting, and project-management standards.
• Lead safety, risk management, scope control, quality control, constructability, and project decision-making activities.
• Coordinate internal teams, plant and operating-company staff, customers, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and regulators.
• Lead planning meetings, stakeholder presentations, project updates, and executive-level issue resolution.
• Provide expert guidance, training, accountability, and continuous-improvement leadership across project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, computer science, or a related field and 10 years of qualified experience; equivalent pathways include an associate’s degree with 12 years or a high school diploma/GED with 14 years.
• Expert-level project management experience, including construction safety, negotiations, scope development, cost estimating, contracting, project controls, quality, and risk management.
• PMP certification is required unless formally waived by the appropriate senior executive.
• Strong leadership, business acumen, communication, decision-making, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to perform light physical duties, including site walkdowns, ladder climbing, and work around hazardous conditions.
• Ability to work at power plants, including nuclear facilities, and construction sites under applicable safety and radiation-exposure limits.

Nice to have

• Three years of experience as a Principal Project Manager or demonstrated equivalent competencies.
• Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems.
