TL;DR
Manager of Finance, Institutional Advancement (Finance): Managing budgets, forecasts, financial reporting, procurement, accounts payable, and business functions for assigned Institutional Advancement departments with an accent on fund accounting, variance analysis, internal controls, and process improvement. Focus on owning departmental profit and loss statements, building financial planning tools and KPIs, and partnering with department heads and leadership teams in a complex institutional environment.

Location: The Met Fifth Avenue, New York, NY; employees must live in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania and commute to the Museum within a single day.

Salary: $120,000–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Partner with the Deputy Director, Chief Advancement Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Institutional Advancement department heads on financial management, service levels, and risk management.
  • Oversee annual operating budgets, financial plan proposals, fiscal-year variance analysis, and reforecasting.
  • Own departmental profit and loss statements, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and strengthen financial management practices.
  • Oversee procurement sourcing, requisition-to-receipt workflows, purchasing card programs, accounts payable, and travel and expense management.
  • Establish data collection, reporting, documentation, and KPI processes using Excel, Workday, and future budget and planning tools.
  • Analyze departmental workflows, implement improvements, and maintain clear records and collaborative communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in an administrative or management function.
  • Thorough knowledge of finance, fund accounting, financial reporting analysis, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Understanding of internal control concepts and implementation in a complex business environment.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to influence within a complex institutional environment.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and Workday; familiarity with or interest in learning JIRA and project management software.
