Senior Staff Software Development Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid, 3 days per week in the San Jose, California office

Base salary: $157,500–$225,000 USD per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, development, and maintenance of scalable system test automation infrastructure for ZIA Core Datapath.
• Build repeatable automation suites for L4–L7 technologies, including cloud firewalls, IPsec/GRE tunneling, load balancers, IPS/IDS, and routing and switching.
• Validate cloud security software through functional, integration, performance, and scale testing.
• Push testing infrastructure to scale through effective coding, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, diagnose customer issues, and take ownership of delivered features.
• Mentor junior engineers and continuously optimize the regression cycle.

Requirements

• 12+ years of overall professional experience.
• Strong Python programming skills for building test automation frameworks.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP(S), TLS, PKI, DNS, DHCP, VPN, HA, routing and switching, and IPsec/GRE tunneling.
• Hands-on experience with L3, L4, and L7 filtering policies, load balancers, IPS/IDS, and routers.
• Experience testing cloud security or SaaS products across functional, integration, performance, and scale scenarios, including test plan and test case creation.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for network infrastructure, HTTP/SSL, and firewall issues.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted coding, static or dynamic analysis, and intelligent automation tools.
• Experience with traffic generators, performance and load testing tools, and fuzzing techniques.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading large-scale test automation or quality initiatives for distributed cloud systems.
