Sr Staff Test Engineer (Server Systems)

Location: Secaucus, New Jersey, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $116,250–$155,000 base salary per year, with potential bonus and additional benefits.

What you will do

• Define system-level test architecture and validation strategies for server platforms across design, NPI, and production environments.
• Own end-to-end validation of CPU, GPU, memory, networking, storage, power, BIOS/UEFI, BMC, IPMI, and Redfish subsystems.
• Lead system- and rack-level debugging, root cause analysis, and technical escalation for failures across hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking, and power systems.
• Develop and validate rack-switch network configurations, including VLANs, port configurations, Layer 2/Layer 3 behavior, connectivity, and traffic flow.
• Design custom digital and physical test and repair tools, including automation frameworks, debug software, cables, harnesses, fixtures, and signal breakout solutions.
• Mentor engineers and improve validation coverage, automation, efficiency, repeatability, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in test engineering or system validation.
• Deep knowledge of server architecture, including CPUs, DIMMs, NICs, GPUs, FPGAs, and system interconnects.
• Strong knowledge of BIOS/UEFI, OpenBMC, IPMI, Redfish, FIO, Linpack, mprime/mprime95, and IPMITOOL.
• Proficiency in Python, Shell, or Perl for test-tool development, automation, network configuration, and API integration.
• Experience with system debugging, root cause analysis, ECO/ECA processes, and test impact analysis across hardware, firmware, OS, networking, and power domains.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-volume L10/L11 manufacturing environments.
• Experience validating GPU-based or AI systems and large-scale data-center deployments.
• Familiarity with liquid cooling systems, failure analysis, and reliability engineering.
• Contributions to test tools, frameworks, or validation standards.
