TL;DR
Manager Cost Accounting (Health Insurance): Leading complex cost allocation methodologies, financial reporting, pricing analysis, forecasting, and regulatory compliance for a health insurance organization with an accent on cost allocation strategy, operating expense analysis, and financial systems. Focus on designing process improvements, guiding system consolidations, supporting auditors and regulators, and developing cost accounting teams.

Location: Hybrid, three days per week in the office at offices in Portland, Medford, Fargo, Burlington, Vancouver, Renton, Boise, Lewiston, Spokane, or Salt Lake City. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations.

Expected hiring range: $111,400–$150,700 annually in Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho; $114,251.05–$154,574.95 annually in North Dakota. Full salary ranges and a 15% bonus target apply by location.

What you will do

  • Lead the design, operation, interpretation, and continuous improvement of complex cost allocation methodologies.
  • Prepare and oversee financial data, regulatory reports, forecasts, operating plans, allocation analyses, journal entries, and departmental reviews.
  • Provide analytical support for product pricing, business performance evaluation, operating cost efficiency, and strategic decisions.
  • Lead financial system conversions and consolidations, including process redesign and integration with ancillary systems.
  • Work with auditors, consultants, regulators, internal partners, and customers on financial, reimbursement, and accounting issues.
  • Manage, train, and develop cost accounting analysts while driving process improvement across the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, plus 8+ years of cost accounting experience in health insurance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying GAAP, Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and Federal Employee Health Benefit Acquisition Regulations.
  • Progressive management experience with the ability to lead and develop analysts or subject-matter experts.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with complex PC and mainframe software and systems.
  • Must be able to work three days per week in an eligible office and live within commuting distance.

Nice to have

  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with AI tools and technologies for productivity and decision-making.
