Cost Accounting Manager (SAP S/4HANA)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; 70% in-office and 30% flexible work model.

Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, with potential eligibility for a discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end cost accounting readiness, including inventory consolidation, process order settlement, activity allocation, manufacturing variance analysis, and overhead absorption review.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for SAP S/4HANA cost accounting, including product costing, cost center accounting, inventory valuation, settlement, and manufacturing cost flows.
• Support annual standard cost cycles through cost roll preparation, activity and overhead rate development, master data validation, and standard cost change analysis.
• Analyze manufacturing variances, inventory balances, cost absorption, settlement results, allocation outcomes, and related financial impacts.
• Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Manufacturing Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and IT to resolve SAP issues and improve reporting and close processes.
• Support internal controls, audits, reconciliations, journal entries, accounting policy compliance, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, medical devices, or another regulated industry.
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC, especially Controlling, Product Costing, Cost Center Accounting, and manufacturing cost flows.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory valuation, overhead allocation, cost absorption, process order settlement, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Experience with SAP cost objects, cost centers, activity types, statistical key figures, allocation cycles, process and production orders, material masters, BOMs, recipes, routings, and cost estimates.
• Experience with Hyperion, Oracle EPM, Essbase, Smart View, or similar reporting tools, plus broad accounting knowledge covering close, accruals, reconciliations, reporting, controls, and audits.

Nice to have

• CPA, CMA, MBA, or another advanced degree.
• Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
• Experience with SAP Material Ledger, actual costing, product cost planning, cost component structures, allocation cycles, and settlement processes.
• Experience with new product costing, manufacturing network changes, site launches, SAP optimization, master data governance, or system implementation projects.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with reporting automation, dashboards, or data visualization.
